Message from the Executive Director

We are looking forward to the holiday season at Mattingly Center Baxter and Mattingly Center East. We are anticipating all the festivities that are a tradition around the Mattingly Center. Our first event is a big Halloween party with costumes, favors, games and music. Next we will be having our big Thanksgiving dinner, where we eat and give thanks for all the blessings we have recieved throughout the year. After that is our Christmas party for the staff the Wednesday before the Thanksgiving break. When we get back from Thanksgiving on of our long time employees, Phyllis Ridge, will be retiring after 30 plus years of providing excellent direct support to our participants. Phyllis we will miss you.

Then we will start preparation for the Christmas season. Each room will be decorated with a Christmas tree and a large tree will be a glow in the main hall at Baxter. This year we will be observing United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd. We have asked legislators to come and celebrate that day. The Mellodeers will perform, participants will carol and staff wil have a special performance. A new Year's Eve party will be held on the 31st of December. As you can see our participants have a fun filled holiday season thanks to a creative and hard working staff.

Then our biggest fundraiser of the year, the Mardi Gras Gala will be held this year at the Hyatt Regency Louisville on January 30, 2010. Thanks to Linda Dues and her committee, this event promises to top our last year's success. What a dedicated group of committee members.

Thanks to all who have supported our 300 campaign. We are over half way there. This has been a tough year and your continued support is much needed.
